Damien P. Barry

Damien Barry has developed an extensive practice primarily in the areas of Family law, Immigration law and Labour law.He has assisted clients in a wide range of Family law areas such as divorce, separation agreements, custody and access disputes, child and spousal support matters as well as Children and Family Services matters and adoptions.

He has also developed an Immigration practice, servicing clients in Cape Breton, Halifax, England and the USA in areas such as work and study permits, permanent residency applications (family class and economic classes), express entry applications and provincial nominee programs. Being an immigrant himself, and a former educator, Damien has a keen interest in the various international student programs across Cape Breton and Nova Scotia, including secondary and post-secondary programs.

Damien has also gained extensive experience in the labour relations sector, assisting on and leading various labour related issues including providing opinion letters and advice on rights under collective agreements, representation in arbitrations and has appeared before the Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board.

In addition to the above, Damien also practices in the area of wills and estates, property, commercial and corporate affairs as well as civil litigation.

  • Admitted to the Nova Scotia bar in 2014. Prior to his admittance to the bar, Damien worked as both a teacher and administrator in public and private schools in Ireland, England, the USA and Hong Kong for 15 years.
